It's always good to have helpers when working on a large project like a Eun Mara. Here is "team Toyne"; Evelyn, Douglas and Owen. They are all dab hands with electric screwdrivers.

Here is Douglas trial-fitting the barometer and clock.

Framework

I built a floor locker forward of the companionway bulkhead to house two more 6V batteries. As this extends a signifcant way into the cabin I made the opening for the sliding hatch 10cm (4") longer than the plans suggest to facilitate stepping down into the cabin. I provided extra fore-aft bracing either side of the hatch opening to cater for the larger area that otherwise would have been unsupported.

The beams are not laminated (as is suggested in the plans). Rather, they consist of three lengths of 12mm (1/2") ply sawn to the correct radius and glued together side by side. The cross-section is greater than the plans suggest, which I hope will compensate for the fact that this type of construction might not be quite as strong as laminating.

When the roof is added the 9mm ply "king plank" extending fore-aft across the beams will provide extra thickness for attaching light fittings.

There's a big jump here to just before launch day.

A local upholsterer made marine-grade cushions for the cabin and cockpit. Janet provided some neat lighthouse themed hangings that double as curtains for the main port-lights.

Here's the view from the cockpit. I forgot to put the cushion on the starboard seat for the photo.
